Concrete Countertops
Concrete countertops are increasing in popularity and are quickly becoming associated with high end design and affluent clientele. Our countertop artisans can form, mold, and shape concrete into various patterns and finishes to meet many desirable outcomes. They are handcrafted and are typically priced at a premium to granite, marble, and other natural stones. The true cost of the countertop is not in the concrete itself, but rather in ModernCrete’s creativity and time for creating special details, unique designs, transportation, and installation.
These items add to the cost:
- Irregular or curved shapes.
- 2" thick concrete.
- Integral drain boards
- Custom edges
- Back splashes
- Large orders sometimes reduce the cost.
In addition to their versatility and distinctive beauty, concrete countertops have another virtue that appeals to many people, especially the ecologically aware: They are more environmentally friendly, or "greener," than most other types of countertops.
"Solid surface materials are made of plastic, engineered quartz materials contain a synthetic resin binder, and granite and marble are nonrenewable mined resources. Concrete contains mostly just good old sand, rock and cement," says Jeff Girard, president of The Concrete Countertop Institute.
